New Brunswick is located in central New Jersey, surrounded by a mixture of suburban and rural areas. Rutgers, the State University, is located in New Brunswick and across the Raritan River in Piscataway. Princeton University is within a one-half hour drive to the south. Central New Jersey is one of the most affluent areas in the country with the Middlesex-Somerset-Hunterdon counties ranking fourth in per capita income nationwide. It is a manufacturing center, agricultural center, high-tech corporate center, and small town America rolled into one. The municipal and county park system is one of the best in the state. The area is also rich with state-supported cultural events as well as many fine restaurants.

The area provides various extracurricular activities including golf, tennis, college sports, music, ballet, and local theaters. Numerous and varied shopping centers are within minutes of the school. The surrounding suburbs are famous for their equestrian farms and seashore resorts. The New Jersey beaches are about one hour from town, providing excellent fishing, sailing, and motorboating facilities. Ski resorts are within a one hour drive. New Brunswick is approximately one hour from the cultural activities of New York City and Philadelphia, and 30 minutes from Newark International Airport, NJ.
