Annual Report AY/FY 2005

Overview

The Division of Infectious Diseases, Allergy and Immunology has several missions. These include provision of superb patient care within our subspecialty disciplines; development and implementation of superior educational programs for medical students, residents, and subspecialty fellows: and performance of innovative clinical and/or basic research to advance the ability of physicians to diagnose and manage infectious diseases and allergic disorders.

During the AY/FY 2005, the Division of Infectious Diseases, Allergy and Immunology increased its clinical billings and collections, and the Division continued to be profitable. Infectious Disease Fellowship positions within the Division continued to be more sought after by RWJMS Medical Residents (as well as by extramural trainees). Both incoming fellows for July 2005 and one fellow for 2006 are from the RWJMS Internal Medicine Residency program. Increasing numbers of medical residents continue to choose to take elective rotations with the full-time faculty, as well.

Dr. Vincent McAuliffe, Associate Professor, and Dr. Daniel Hart, Assistant Professor, were recruited to join the faculty and will provide added depth in HIV infection and transplantation-associated infectious diseases, respectively.
