Evidence Based Medicine

The program recognizes the importance of a solid theoretical understanding of evidence based medicine as well as practical use for patient care. In accordance with this, we provide several educational opportunities including journal club and an EBM course.

Residents present current and landmark journal articles during our weekly journal club which is moderated by the members of the division of general internal medicine. In addition to the findings of each study, discussions in this forum involve study design, research methodologies, and statistical principles.

The recently instituted small group discussion-style EBM course given to all interns provides a foundation in formulating clinical questions, effective search strategies, and evaluating literature.
