Continuity Office Practices

Each resident is assigned to a half-day a week general medicine continuity office practice for the duration of their training.  They assume clinical responsibility for a panel of patients with a broad range of medical problems under the supervision of teaching faculty.  In addition, residents provide preventive health services, consultation services, preoperative evaluations, and disability determinations for their patients.

Weekly clinic conferences are held at each site where residents and attendings discuss aspects of the ambulatory curriculum and compile a "toolkit" of primary care topics and clinical decision tools.

A recent initiative compiles and measures the clinical outcomes for some of the patients for whom our residents care.  Presently, aspects of care for patients with diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and dislipidemia are being examined over time.
