Pre-Medical Programs

Biomedical Careers Program

This is an eight-week summer enrichment program for educationally disadvantaged or economically disadvantaged undergraduate students interested in the health care fields and biomedical research. The BCP, which is jointly sponsored by the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and Rutgers University, offers three different curricula designed to meet the needs of students at all levels of undergraduate training. Each curriculum consists of a combination of science courses, a major laboratory experience (for upper-level students this consists of an individual research project), activities designed to build scientific communication skills, sessions to enhance reading, writing, and study skills, and career-related counseling.

Three college credits are offered through Rutgers University and may be transferred to other colleges. There are no tuition charges for New Jersey students attending the program. Each student who is selected to participate will receive a stipend sufficient to cover the costs of room and board. On-campus housing is available. ACCESS MED Program

Robert Wood Johnson Medical School has joined with two New Jersey universities to provide an articulated program, ACCESS-MED, specifically designed for educationally and economically disadvantaged undergraduates who are interested in careers in medicine. Admission to the program is open to disadvantaged students enrolled at either of the undergraduate institutions participating in the consortium: Rutgers University and Seton Hall University. Baccalaureate/M.D. Program

Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and Rutgers University have a joint Bachelor/Medical Degree program. Students who are sophomores in any college of Rutgers University are eligible to apply for admission to this program. Students who are admitted to the program are able to take medical school courses concurrent with undergraduate courses and apply some of these courses to both degrees.

Summer Science Scholar Program

The Summer Science Scholars Academy is a highly competitive 3-week summer enrichment program for high school students interested in medicine and pursuing a career in the health professions. The academy is designed for highly motivated and academically committed students achieving excellence in the sciences. Students entering 11th or 12th grade are eligible to apply. The Summer Science Scholars Academy consist of two sessions. Students may apply to either Session I or Session II.
