High School Programs
Mini Medical School for High School Students Achieving Excellence in the Sciences
This program is tailored for sophomore, junior and senior New Jersey high school students interested in medical careers. Students must be recommended by their faculty.
This is a wonderful opportunity for students to sample a medical school curriculum. We are hoping to foster a lasting interest in the health sciences and to pique interest in volunteering in our clinical and research arenas in the future. Here is a sample of last year's curriculum.
Science Enrichment Program
The Science Enrichment Program (SEP) was developed in 1997 and enrolled its first students in 1998. SEP is a competitive program that targets disadvantaged high school students entering grades 11 and 12 from our partner Abbott School districts, which includes New Brunswick, Plainfield, Perth Amboy, and Trenton. SEP offers College Biology Lecture and Laboratory, Academic Computing, and Expository Writing. Students participate in an intensive six-week summer program that utilizes lecture format, laboratory experiences, small group activities, and cognitive skills sessions to enhance reading, writing, studying, and test taking skills. The combination of activities is designed to expand participant's academic abilities and ease the transition into college.
